NET Extra: ‘We deport Nigerians every month’ – UK

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) said the same.The UK government clarified that it deported only 46 Nigerians over immigration-related offences.The deportees touched down at the Hajj and Cargo Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 8am.Some of them were stranded.‘Some of them have overstayed their visa,’ NISspokesperson Ekpedeme King said.The UK said it regularly, almost monthly, deport Nigerians who violate its immigration laws.The clarification does not mean the UK has rescinded its decision to deport 29,000 Nigerians who are reportedly staying in the country with invalid documents.It is unclear if the UK plans the mass deportation to make room for the 20,000 Syrian refugees Prime Minister David Cameron said he would resettle over the next five years.
